Legal Aid Manitoba Releases it’s 48th Annual Report

Legal Aid Manitoba’s 48th Annual Report was released on October 14. LAM’s purpose is to serve the public interest by providing low-income individuals and groups with fundamental and essential legal “advice” and “representation” services. LAM’s audited financial statements demonstrate that services were provided in a cost-effective manner and within budget.
Thanks to ongoing funding from the Province of Manitoba, the Federal Government, and the Manitoba Law Foundation and contributions from clients, LAM issued 35,712 certificates for formal representation to individuals by either staff or private bar lawyers. In addition, 17,087 people were provided with in-person/telephone advice and information and 43,785 were assisted by full service duty counsel. The total number of assists provided during the year was 96,584.
