04/05/2021
On April 27, 2021 over 60 lawyers, articling students and law students joined the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC) for a discussion on public interest work in the early years of one’s legal career. The discussion was moderated by Chimwemwe Undi (TDS), and featured Christian Monnin (MLT Aikins), Dayna Steinfeld (Fillmore Riley LLP), Kathleen McCandless (Pitblado), Robynne Kazina (Taylor McCaffrey LLP), and Sacha Paul (TDS), all of whom have contributed to PILC’s Pro Bono Project through their legal careers.
These Manitoba lawyers discussed the opportunities, challenges and rewards that come with undertaking public interest work, which can offer lawyers unparalleled opportunities to contribute to issues of importance to their communities. The event also included an audience Q+A, which answered questions about how lawyers can contribute to Manitoba’s culture of pro-bono work at early stages of their career.
